2. tyypin konditionaalilauseissa, voidaan käyttää preesens konditionaalin jatkuvaa muotoa (Present Continuous Conditional).

Funktio
Tämä muoto on tyypillistä 2. tyypin konditionaalilauseissa. Se ilmaisee päättymätöntä tai jatkuvaa toimintaa tai tilannetta, joka on epätodellisen tilan oletettu lopputulos.
Esimerkkejä
- I would be working in Italy if I spoke Italian. (Mutta en puhu italiaa, joten en ole Italiassa töissä.)
- She wouldn't be living with Jack if she lived with her parents. (Mutta hän asuu Jackin, eikä vanhempien kanssa.).
- You wouldn't be smiling if you knew the truth. (Mutta hymyilet, koska et tiedä totuutta.)
The present continuous conditional -aikamuoto
Minkä tahansa verbin present continuous conditional -aikamuoto koostuu kolmesta elementistä:
would + be + partisiipin preesens
Partisiipin preesens muodostetaan ottamalla verbin perusmuoto ja lisäämällä loppuun -ing.
